Research Summary: This project will focus on a rigid packaging high oxygen barrier, used in the coffee industry. We propose to develop a compostable alternative to the current paper-aluminum package. The challenge is to achieve high-barrier properties with current compostable materials and at a cost competitive price. Our laboratory results indicate that we can achieve both, the first of this kind.
