Course Synopsis:
This course will explore the origins, character, and the operation of internal slavery and export slave trades in Africa between the 15th and the 19th centuries, as well as the history of the abolition of slavery. It will examine how the various forms of slave trades interacted with each other and explore their demographic, political, economic, social, and cultural impact on African states and societies.
