ces Reading Group on April 12, 2013 at the public library at 100 Norfolk at3-5pm. Our last guest presenter for the year will be internationally acclai
med cellist and educator, Matt Brubeck.

Mystery Cello Presentation?!

Matt Brubeck will be leading a discussion about an unusual cello recording
. There will be no advance distribution of this musical offering, so bring
your ears and join the improvised dialogue.

Matt Brubeck is a JUNO award-winning performer/composer specializing in improvisation on the cello. Rai
sed on jazz and classically trained at Yale, Matt is at ease in multiple ge
nres and has taken his cello improvisation skills into diverse musical terri
tories. Matt’s current projects include Stretch Orchestra (with Kevin Breit
and Jesse Stewart), Ugly Beauties (with Marilyn Lerner and Nick Fraser), a
nd Brubeck Braid (with David Braid). In addition to his jazz/improvising wor
k, Matt has had many eclectic musical adventures including working with suc
h diverse artists as Tom Waits, Pamela Z, and Yo-Yo Ma. He currently teach
es a variety of courses/ensembles at York University and Humber College.
