Scottish Emigrant Women in Canada: Elizabeth Ritchie at Rural History Roundtable

Guelph's Rural History Roundtable Speakers' Series is proud to present another semester of original and engaging talks. All welcome! Thursday 6 February, 7:30 – 9:30pm Dr. Elizabeth Ritchie: “‘With a Woman and an Axe’: The Labour of Scottish Emigrant Women in Rural Canada, 1782-1851.” Elizabeth teaches at the University of the Highlands and Islands in Scotland and researches education, popular religion, gender and the family in the early 19th-century Scottish Highlands, and women's emigration from Scotland to Canada.

"The Square" MESS Documentary Screening and Discussion

The Middle East Scholars Society (MESS) is happy to sponsor a special screening of Jehane Noujaim's new documentary "The Square" followed by a discussion with Professors: Renée Worringer and Eid Moahmed. "The Square" takes a look behind the headlines of the Egyptian Revolution, exploring the uprisings through the personal stories of Egyptian youth struggling to create a society of conscience.
