Sexualities, Gender and Social Change (SXGN) Art Installation and Poster Competition featuring Public Lecture by Dr. Emily Ansari

On International Women's Day, the Sexualities, Genders and Social Change (SXGN) program in the College of Arts invites the campus community to attend an art installation and poster prize presentation, featuring a public lecture by Dr. Emily Abrams Ansari, assistant dean of Research and associate professor, Western University, Faculty of Music. Guests will have the opportunity to meet the Collaborative Specialization students who created the posters in response to this year’s International Women’s Day theme, #InspireInclusion. The art installation, which will run from 10:30 a.m.

Upcoming Lecture: "'Why February?': The History of Black History Month"

During Black History Month and every day, we encourage our community to engage with opportunities to reflect upon the past, recognize where we are now, and resolve to build a stronger future for everyone. In her upcoming lecture on Wednesday, February 7, “‘Why February?’: The History of Black History Month”, Deirdre McCorkindale, assistant professor of Black Canadian Studies and History in the College of Arts, will explore the origin of Black History Month nearly 100 years ago, its history, and the misconceptions that continue to surround it. This event will run from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
