Speaker Series talk by Professor Alex King: "Aesthetic reasons for action"

ABSTRACT It's common to talk of morality as issuing in reasons for action, or to understand morality as "essentially action-guiding". However, to the extent that aesthetics gives us genuine reasons of any kind, they are typically seen as something like reasons for appreciation. In this talk, I will defend the view that there are aesthetic reasons for action, so that aesthetics, too, can be and is sometimes action-guiding.
