Book Launch! Manomin: Caring for Ecosystems and Each Othe
Date and Time
Details
Dr. Brittany Luby has just co-edited Manomin: Caring for Ecosystems and Each Other, a physically (i.e., large print) and financially (i.e., open access) book fulfilling Elder Clarence Henry’s vision: a gathering of Indigenous plant knowledge about Manomin. The book is now in print!
Join the Manomin Project editorial team at artBar on Tuesday, November 19, 7pm, for the book launch.
A collection of stories, recipes, photographs, and academic essays, Manomin explores the past, present, and future possibilities of the only cereal grain native to Turtle Island (also known as North America) and shares the plant’s many lessons about the living relationships between all forms of creation. This event will feature a panel discussion with the book’s STEM editors: Andrea Bradford, Samantha Mehltretter, and Jane Mariotti. The panel discussion will be moderated by Cara Wehkamp, plant scientist and Assistant Vice-President (Indigenous Initiatives) at the University of Guelph.
