Speaker Series: Dr. Deborah Black, University of Toronto "Consciousness in Classical Arabic Philosophy"

Short Abstract: Dr. Black is presenting a talk that will take us through a number of theories on the consciousness of humans and animals. Starting with an Aristotelian background, Dr. Black will then discuss the Mtakallimun, also called kalam theologians, and Avicenna, a writer of treatises during Islam's Golden Age.
