Workshop: Nietzsche and Virtue
Date and Time
Details
Friedrich Nietzsche raised potent challenges to traditional views about morality. Many of these challenges took aim at traditional virtues such as justice and charity. Is human happiness compatible with a virtuous life, or does the bad conscience and guilt that accompany morality bring us misery that outweighs its benefits? Nietzsche invites us to reassess our idea of the good human life from a perspective that does not take for granted that virtue is its own reward. In this workshop a team of international Nietzsche scholars will help unravel and assess Nietzsche's claims about virtue and the well-lived human life.
