Join us for an informal public talk by Sofie Lachapelle: The Ghost in the Image

Dr. Lachapelle has been at the University of Guelph since January 2005. She is a historian of science with a PhD from the University of Notre Dame. She is the author of Investigating the Supernatural: From Spiritism and Occultism to Psychical Research and Metapsychics in France, 1853-1931 (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2011). In her current work, she explores the world of nineteenth-century magicians and the relationship between science, magic and wonder during this period.
