St. Andrew's Lecture: Dr. Ian Ralston

The Guelph Centre for Scottish Studies and the St Andrews Society of Toronto invites you to the St Andrews Society Lecture "Hillforts of the long Iron Age - in Scotland and beyond" by Professor Ian Ralson, OBE, from the University of Edinburgh.

The Lecture will be held on April 13th 2016, from 2:00-3:30pm in MCKN 132. This lecture is open to the general public and there is no admission fee.

About the speaker:

Ian Ralston is the Abercromby Professor of Prehistoric Archaeology at the University of Edinburgh, holding Scotland's oldest and most prestigious post in the field of archaeology. An expert on the Iron Age in temperate Europe, and especially the Iron Age Celts, he has excavated widely in France and Scotland, published on a range of subjects, led several major research projects, and pioneered the use of experimental archaeology and aerial photography. From 1974 to 1985 he taught at the University of Aberdeen, before moving to Edinburgh. He has participated actively in the growth and development of archaeological public policy in France and Scotland, most recently as the Chair of the Scottish Archaeological Finds Allocation Panel, and was made an Officer of the British Empire (OBE) in 2009 for services to British archaeology.
