Filmmaker, Writer/Director and Co-Founder of Experimental Forest Films.
Kathleen Hepburn is a 2012 graduate from the MFA Creative Writing program at Guelph who has gone on to be recognized nationally and internationally for her works in the film industry. Kathleen has worked for companies such as Panavision, Inspired Cinema, and VICE Media over the years in various roles. She currently works as Writer, Director, and Co-Founder of Experimental Forest Films based out of Vancouver, BC. Her first feature film, “Never Steady, Never Still,” premiered in 2017 at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film won a multitude of awards, such as Best Canadian Film and Best Director from the Vancouver Film Critics Circle, Special Jury Prize at the Dublin International Film Festival, and was nominated for eight Canadian Screen Academy Awards including Best Picture. Earlier this year, Kathleen’s second feature film The Body Remembers When the World Broke Open premiered at Berlinale, the Berlin International Film Festival. On August 20th, 2019, Kathleen was selected by her alma mater, Simon Fraser University, to receive the “Rising Star in Arts and Culture” Award for Outstanding Alumni.
