Where are they Wednesday: Cobina Price-Jones
Cobina Price-Jones
Technical Writer
Bachelor of Arts, English Major & History Minor (1982)
After completing her undergrad at the U of G with a major in English and a minor in History, Cobina had a plan to become a librarian. She went on to earn her Master of Library Science at the University of Western Ontario as well as her Master of Arts in English from the University of Waterloo. It was at the University of Waterloo where she assisted with technical writing courses for science students. After graduating, a job opportunity arose as a Technical Writer at Geac Computer Corporation, a company that made computer systems for libraries - a fitting combination of her interests and skills. Throughout her career, Cobina wrote in other domains, including networking (Novell), audio-visual software (Sonic Solutions), communications (Nortel), and mass spectrometry (SCIEX).
We had the pleasure of meeting Cobina and her husband Neil on campus in November 2021. Cobina continued to speak highly of the College of Arts at Guelph. Both Cobina and Neil echoed the importance of the skills earned in the Arts - critical thinking, communication, a desire to learn - and how far they can take you in your career. Cobina's career path, along with so many of our alumni, has demonstrated the adaptability of an Arts degree in almost any field.
Congratulations on your achievements, Cobina, and thank you for your continued support of the Arts. We are proud to call you College of Arts alumna!
