After completing her degree in Studio Art in 2015, Melina worked as a Design Specialist on the Creative Design team for Manulife and then eventually as their Freelance Graphic Designer. In 2018, Melina started tailoring her Fine Art skills to a new medium in the jewellery industry. She took courses at Conestoga College in Jewellery Making and Metalsmithing for her own personal interest. She is currently enrolled as a student at George Brown College in Jewellery Arts. While studying, she wears several hats in the jewellery industry, working as a Jewellery Studio Monitor for George Brown College, a Course Instructor at Living Arts Centre Mississauga, and the Owner and Designer of her own jewellery line, NAKIIT. Melina’s handmade collection features simple designs and one-of-a-kind pieces that could withstand the test of time. NAKIIT has been featured in the August, September, and December issues of British Vogue, displayed at the annual Art Gallery of Hamilton Art Sale, the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery’s Black & Gold 2019 fundraiser, and was awarded second place in the 2019 Canadian Jewellery Expos.
