Where are they Wednesday: Walter Scott
Walter Scott
Interdisciplinary Artist
MFA, Studio Art (2018)
Happy Wednesday, Art Gryphons, and welcome back to another "Where are they Wednesday" feature!
Today we are putting the spotlight on Walter Scott, a UofG MFA graduate in Studio Art from 2018. Walter is currently an interdisciplinary artist, specializing in comics, drawing, video, performance and sculpture. Walter may be best known for his comic series Wendy, which includes Wendy, Wendy's Revenge, and Wendy, Master of Art. It's been suggested that Wendy, Master of Art is loosely based on his time at the University of Guelph. The Wendy series has been featured in Canadian Art, Art in America, and The New Yorker, and was selected for the 2016 edition of Best American Comics.
Walter has gone on to participate in solo and group exhibitions for his contemporary drawings and sculptures around the world, including across Canada, the United States, Europe, and Asia. He earned a residency at the AGO in 2016, and his more recent exhibition, "The Pathos of Mandy," has been viewed in Kingston and New York.
Congratulations on your accomplishments, Walter! We are ecstatic to see what you produce next. Draw out your dream life - pursue the Arts at the University of Guelph!
