Engineering Graduate Student Wins Poster Presentation Award at the SAVY Conference

Nicola Billings, engineering graduate student at the University of Guelph, won the first place poster presentation award at the Symposium on Artificial Intelligence in Veterinary Medicine (SAVY) at Cornell University.

The conference took place from April 19 to 21 in Ithaca, New York, with over 200 attendees. During the poster session and reception, which took place on the evening of April 19th, participants showcased their research on the intersectionality of veterinary medicine and artificial intelligence. Nicola presented her investigation on pseudo-computed tomography image generation from magnetic resonance imaging using generative adversarial networks for veterinary radiation therapy, and received one of three awards for her outstanding presentation.

"I felt privileged that I was able to present my research on pseudo-computed tomography image generation from magnetic resonance imaging using generative adversarial networks for veterinary radiation therapy planning at the Symposium on Artificial Intelligence in Veterinary Medicine (SAVY) at Cornell University. I was honoured to receive one of their three awards for having an outstanding presentation. It was great to network, interact, and learn from other hardworking and bright-minded individuals! The symposium consisted of engaging keynote speakers, interactive poster presentations, and social receptions. After attending the symposium, I feel very inspired and excited to see some of the many ways that artificial intelligence can be implemented to improve veterinary medicine for companion animal health, livestock health, and population medicine," Nicola said about her experience.

Congratulations Nicola!
