International Update - 2023/24

Below you can find the stats and information regarding study abroad participation in 2023-2024. The information is also provided in a PDF document that you can download at the bottom of the page. 

Numbers and Stats

  • 278 participants in study abroad programs run by CIP
    • 107 summer semester participants
    • 50 fall semester participants
    • 115 winter semester participants
    • 23 countries studied in through programs run by CIP and the top five countries are the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Sweden, France, Italy
    • 6 Faculty-led summer Field School Programs
    • 642 students provided pre-departure orientation and emergency response services
  • 364 Individual study, research, departmental, co-op international participants
  • 642 total U of G participants in study abroad programs (5.4% decrease from 22/23) CIP provides pre-departure orientation and emergency response services for all students going abroad.
  • 860 students attended a study abroad information session for the 24/25 study abroad period
  • 517 study abroad applications submitted for the 24/25 study abroad period

CIP has administered the following external funds in travel grants and research funding this year:

  • Support for faculty members and departments internationalizing their programs
  • Administration of Exchange, and Summer Field School Programs
  • Annual Student Abroad Fair
  • Intercultural competency training
  • Pre-departure orientations
  • Emergency response services 24/7 
  • Negotiating new exchange agreements
  • Administration of Global Affairs Canada scholarships and internships
  • Reception and registration of incoming exchange students
