Transfer Student Supports
Transfer students are a unique part of the new student population at Guelph, having already begun your post-secondary experience at another college, university, or Indigenous institute. We recognize that this means that sometimes things will look a bit different than they do for other new students. We are here to help ease your transition to the University of Guelph by introducing all new students, including transfer students, to the things that make U of G unique, and to help you find your fit in your new campus community.

Transfer Student Supports at U of G
Pre-Arrival and Orientation Programming
START U of G programming for all new students begins in the months leading up to your first semester and continues your whole first year. START U of G includes webinars, weekly newsletters with important information, and events throughout the school year. Explore opportunities for new students or visit STARTuofg.ca and login to the Student Experience Intranet for more information and resources.
Transfer Student Advising
The Coordinator, Transfer Student Programs is a professional staff member who assists transfer students with navigating a new post-secondary system. You can reach out via email at start@uoguelph.ca or book a meeting for one-to-one support. For information on other student supports on campus, visit the Current Students page.
Academic Program Counselling
Once you're accepted as a transfer student, we strongly encourage you to schedule an appointment with your degree Program Counsellor as soon as possible. This meeting is crucial for understanding how your unique academic history affects your graduation requirements. Your Program Counsellor will help you choose courses, plan your degree, and more.
Get Involved
At U of G, one of the best ways to meet new people is to get involved on campus by going to events, joining a club, volunteering, or something else. There are many opportunities for you to find community on campus. Finding a way to connect with others can help new students form friendships and find a sense of belonging on campus and online.
