TITLE: An Ontology for Parameters of Animal Disease Spread Simulation Models

ABSTRACT:

Over the past decade, many animal disease spread simulation models have been developed and improved. However, the semantics of the parameters of these models are often overlooked. One of the limitations of these models is the lack of formal semantic definition of the parameters. It leads to several disadvantages. In this work, we propose a new approach for parameters’ transformation of disease spread simulation models. The use of ontology as a formal semantic model for the parameters offers several advantages such as allowing explicit knowledge representation, assessment of parameters’ domain knowledge, and assisting in transformation of parameters of these models for comparison tasks.
