You are invited to go on a campus tour, check out our residences, attend academic information sessions and chat one on one with current students, staff and faculty who are in the programs to which you've applied. Guest Lecture: Text Analytics and New Visualization Techniques

Text analytics have advanced significantly with techniques such as entity extraction and characterization, topic and opinion analysis, and sentiment and emotion extraction, and so on. But, text visualization has advanced much more slowly. The best known technique is the tag cloud: which doesn't convey much data. Reframing visualization techniques for text reveals many new ways to visualize with text. This presentation will provide an overview of these new ways to visualize text, in addition to examples from research and industry.

Meet with a University of Guelph Liaison Officer to have all your questions answered before or after your tour. Tours during the March Break will leave from Peter Clark Hall (basement of the University Centre).
