Nicholas Bannon received W.C. Winegard Medal as top undergraduate.

The W.C. Winegard Medal, U of G's top undergraduate convocation award, was presented to Nicholas Bannon, a fourth-year FARE student. Named for former U of G president W.C. Winegard, the award recognizes academic achievement and contributions to campus and community. Nick, a star Varsity Track and Field athlete and President's Scholar, is a recipient of gold medals at both the USports and the Ontario University Athletics competitions and several academic scholarships/awards. Nick has authored and co-authored three peer-reviewed articles, and more than fifteen outreach/extension publications (i.e., blogs and popular media articles), three working papers on issues related to the economics of food and agricultural economics. He played a leadership role to support Student Athlete Mental Health Initiative (SAMHI); coached a youth athletes’ team; and volunteers for several community agencies.
