Q&A with Sunny Choi - 2023 Top-30-Under-30 Recipient
This month, Kostuch Media Limited's (KML) annual Top-30-Under-30 were announced that celebrates top young professionals of Canada's hospitality and foodservice industry.
This year's list of top young professionals featured four alumni from U of G's Gordon S. Lang School of Business & Economics, School of Hospitality, Food & Tourism Management.
In this Q&A feature, Sunny Choi, HAFA Co-op '16 alum and Manager, Portfolio Management for Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts discusses how Lang/UofG helped her career launch, what she loves about the industry and why she chose to study hospitality/tourism at the U of G.

How has your education at the U of G helped you build your skills and experience to become a young leader in the HFTM industry?
My education at UofG equipped me with core skills, knowledge, and experiences essential for entering the industry. Through comprehensive business classes and industry-specific leadership courses, I developed a strong foundation. My time at Guelph is invaluable, not only for the education I received but also for the connections I made with classmates, who are still my friends and co-workers today.
What is it about working in the hospitality industry that you love?
I love the people aspect of the industry. Regardless of the work I am doing, even if I am not necessarily in the front-line serving guests, I still contribute to someone's memorable moments!
Why did you choose to study hospitality/tourism at U of G?
There are several reasons why I chose U of G to study hospitality. The Lang Business School is known for its comprehensive curriculum, and HAFA has highly renowned faculty and strong industry connections. The co-op program with cohort and alumni events played a crucial role in building my experience and expanding my network in the industry.
