Areas of Research
General Research
Our department consists of more than 40 faculty members who conduct research on a wide variety of organisms, including plants, animals, and microbes, spanning multiple levels of biological organization from genes to ecosystems. Our research is being used to address some of society’s most important regional and global issues.
Our students and faculty work in a dynamic research environment that includes modern facilities such as the University of Guelph’s Science Complex and the Ontario Biodiversity Institute. With more than 100 graduate students and approximately $9 million per year in research funding, our department fosters cutting-edge research in three overlapping research streams, which are listed to the right.
