I am a MSc candidate under the supervision of Dr. Todd Gillis. During my 4th year honours thesis in the Gillis Lab, I investigated the cellular and functional response of the zebrafish heart to thermal acclimation using high frequency cardiac ultrasound. I was particularly interested in myocardial collagen regulation and how we could use fishes' remodeling strategies to better treat and manage mammalian heart disease. In my MSc project I plan to explore the genetic basis of stress-induced cardiac remodeling in fish, and how energetically costly this physiological strategy is for animals.
