This call is open to Canadians, permanent residents of Canada, and citizens of developing countries pursuing doctoral studies at a Canadian university. IDRC Doctoral Research Awards are intended to promote the growth of Canadian and developing-country capacity in research to improve the lives of people in the developing world. These awards are intended for field research in one or more developing countries.

The Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP) scholarships provide students and researchers from Latin America and the Caribbean with short-term exchange opportunities for study or research at the college, undergraduate and graduate levels.
The scholarship is tenable for a period of four to 12 months for students and no less than eight weeks in the case of mid-career professionals, professors and researchers.
