The MBA is offered in two formats for different types of learners:
2 year Online MBA for Working Professionals
The two-year online MBA program is designed to fit around a full-time professional work schedule, while still providing a fulfilling and challenging academic experience. Students focus on one course at a time, allowing you to focus your time and efforts.
1-year In-person MBA for recent graduates
The one-year in-person MBA is designed to provide recent university graduates with an intensive program, delivered in-person at our University of Guelph campus, which prepares them for the professional world.

Program overview
The Lang MBA is delivered in two formats to fit your learning needs. The 2-year online program is ideal for professionals working in a wide range of industries seeking to advance their careers. The 1-year in-person MBA is ideal for recent graduates seeking to rapidly develop their competencies for the employment market.

Lang MBA program at a glance:
- Typical Program Length: 12 months (in-person for recent graduates) 24 months (online for working professionals)

Academic Requirements
- Completion of a four-year undergraduate degree or its equivalent
- At least a B- average in your last two years of full-time study
- A GMAT/GRE is not required
- Applicants who are graduates of a 4-year undergraduate business degree (Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Business Administration or equivalent) or who hold a professional designation (e.g., CPA, CFA, PMP) may be eligible for a waiver of certain program requirements, at the discretion of the MBA Program Coordinator.
Work requirements
- Applicants to the 2-year online MBA for working professionals must demonstrate a record of prior work experience, typically involving three or more years of supervisory and managerial responsibility.
- The one-year in-person MBA for recent graduates does not require prior work experience. However, preference will be given to applicants with a demonstrated record of relevant work experience and/or experiential learning activities (e.g. co-op, internships, consulting projects).
English language requirements
- All applicants must meet the University of Guelph’s English Language Proficiency requirements for admission. If an applicant’s first language is not English, or their undergraduate degree was not taught at an English-language institution, an English Language Proficiency test will be required.
Application deadlines for Summer 2025 admission:
International Applicants:
- November 1, 2024 -- submission of the online application form
- November 15, 2024 -- submission of all required supporting documents
Canadian applicants:
Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. However, applicants are strongly advised to adhere to the following deadlines to ensure quick admission decisions:
- January 15, 2025 -- submission of the online application form
- February 1, 2025 -- submission of all required supporting documents
Advanced Standing
The University of Guelph gives advanced standing for students who have completed graduate-level courses. A maximum of two courses will be considered for advanced standing credit. For more information, please see the University of Guelph's Graduate Studies website.

The In-person MBA for recent graduates meets Canadian Immigration and Citizenship’s eligibility criteria for international students to obtain a study permit and a post-graduate work permit. We know that moving to Canada is both exciting and challenging. Leaving your friends, family and support can be difficult but we are here to help you find your place on campus and manage your transition.
The online MBA for working professionals does not require students to maintain full-time residency in Canada in order to complete their degree. The online MBA for working professionals does not meet Canadian Immigration and Citizenship’s eligibility criteria for international students to obtain a study permit, as the courses are delivered online.
International students enrolled in the online MBA for working professionals should apply for a visitor’s visa to attend the on-campus components of the Lang MBA.

Graduate fees, including non-tuition program fees, are listed on the Student Financial Services website.
Significant scholarships and bursaries are available to assist with tuition. Please contact us to learn if you are eligible.
An application fee of $150 CAD is payable to the Ontario University Application Centre (OUAC) directly when submitting your application. This application fee cannot be waived.
Entrance Scholarships
The Lang School offers numerous entrance scholarships to support highly qualified students studying in the program. Please inquire about available scholarships.
Lang Graduate Executive Programs Entrance Scholarship
Selected recipients will receive $20,000 which is awarded over three semesters beginning in the summer.
Canadian Resident Loans
Canadian residents should also consider provincial student loans and the Canada Student Loan program. Applications are available through your home province.
International Students
International students should research the NAFSA web page. Some students have been successful in obtaining loans through these organizations, specifically if they have a United States resident who is willing to co-sign with them.

Why should you secure pre-approval?
Tuition loan pre-approval will ultimately save you time. While credit approval does not guarantee acceptance into the University of Guelph's MBA program, your financial application submitted at the same time as your University of Guelph's MBA application will give you a head start, and ultimately peace of mind.
Your Lang MBA program will kick off on campus during the Lang Grad Conference, where you will establish connections with your cohort and gain inspiration from keynote speakers and expert Lang faculty.
Online students will have the opportunity to sleep, eat and learn on-campus, giving you a true University of Guelph campus experience.
