Lang Students’ Association and the Guelph Sport and Event Management Association host the Inaugural Lang Charity Golf Tournament
The inaugural Lang Charity Golf Tournament, took place on October 6th at the Ariss Valley Golf & Country Club. Hosted by the Lang Students’ Association and the Guelph Sport and Event Management Students’ Association, student leaders set out with the objective of supporting the Children's Foundation of Guelph & Wellington. Raising $4,888.50, the tournament demonstrated how the intersection of sport and charity can enable golf to serve as a powerful vehicle for philanthropy.
Organized by Brooke Willier, Tristan Elkin, and their teams of Events Managers and Corporate Managers, they the team acquired sponsorships from 18 unique companies, rallying over 120 registrants to participate and push forward the message of the tournament. Joseph Terenzio, Guelph Sport and Event Management Students’ Association Co-President, shared “This tournament is proof that a good cause, a group of dedicated people, and a little competition can come together to make a lasting difference.” After their rounds, attendees engaged in a networking session, where students engaged in meaningful discussions with industry professionals from partnering companies, building connections to broaden their network and supporting their professional development.

The Lang Charity Golf Tournament has set a precedent for future events for both the Lang Students’ Association and Guelph Sport and Event Management Students’ Association. Raising $4,888.50 for the Children’s Foundation of Guelph & Wellington, these students provided invaluable learning experiences for those who attended, using Business as a Force for Good.
