The footprints of a pair of Canadian Olympians have long pounded Guelph’s running trails. That fact was on everyone’s mind Sunday morning, as local competitive runners gathered in Fergus, first to watch two locally trained distance runners compete in the Olympic marathon, and then to participate in a run — albeit a much shorter one — of their own.
Joe van Koeverden is a proud father after watching his son Adam win an Olympic silver medal in the kayak K-1 1000-metre final this morning at Eton Dorney. Joe graduated with both his BComm Hotel and Food Administration and MBA Hospitality & Tourism from HTM. This silver medal is the fourth Olympic medal of Adam's career and makes him Canada's most decorated Olympian in the kayak event.
