December 21: New Book Explores Relationship between Economic Growth, Environment

Department of Economics Professor Ross McKitrick's new book explores the complex relationship between economic growth and the environment and how environmental targets cannot be met without considering the economics. Published this month, McKitrick's book Economic Analysis of Environmental Policy, provides tools for developing policy analysis skills applied to current challenges and debates.  Read full news release

December 13: CME Projects Funded by the KTT Program

Three CME projects have been funded by the Knowledge Translation and Transfer (KTT) program, a new initiative under the University's partnership agreement with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA). These projects are Professor Melanie Lang's Interdisciplinary Product Development Course through the Centre for Business and Social Entrepreneurship (CBaSE) and two projects by Professor Sara Mann; Young Workers in Ontario's Rural Labour Market and Human Resource Management Practices in the Agri-sector.

November 26: HTM Raffle Support the United Way

November 17: MCS Faculty Member Presents Research on Changing Consumer Demographics at OMAFRA Conference

Dr. Tanya Mark, Faculty Member, Department of Marketing and Consumer Studies was the keynote speaker at the 2010 OMAFRA Agriculture Development Branch Conference in London, ON, on November 16th.  She presented research on changing consumer demographics in Ontario, their impact on consumer trends, and implications for the agricultural community in order to meet client needs in this changing environment.  

November 15: Dean Christensen Hughes’ research one of 13 projects aimed at supporting innovative teaching/learning

Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario (HEQCO) announced 13 research projects aimed to assess and highlight innovative and effective teaching/learning practices at Ontario’s colleges and universities. Focusing on the teaching/learning challenges facing large-enrolment introductory courses, Dean Julia Christensen Hughes and Researcher Barb Bloemhof's research project will examine if the approaches used in introductory accounting courses increase student engagement with the course content.

November 11: CME faculty members win awards at the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada conference

Two CME faculty members won awards at the annual Administrative Sciences Association of Canada (ASAC) conference this year. Under the theme of Enterprising Our World, Sustainable Business in Action, members were encouraged to submit papers on a number of topics. Ron Baker received the best paper award for the Business History Division and Sean Lyons received the best paper award for the Gender and Diversity in Organizations Division.
