What’s the Right Retirement Fund and How Do We Know? Prof. Towhidul Islam Interviewed

Marketing Professor Towhidul Islam studies how consumers make savings choicesEvery business wants to unravel the secrets of consumer decision-making. Why do people make the choices they make? Can we separate customer choice (or preference) from uncertainty (or inconsistency)? What influences choices, and how do preferences and inconsistencies change over time? Research by Prof. Towhidul Islam, Marketing and Consumer Studies, can help answer some of those questions. But he intends to do more than help corporations do a better job of selling their products.

July 26: CME Supports Food Day

In recognition that "food" is an area of historic and significant interest across the University of Guelph and the College of Management and Economics, CME is supporting Food Day, a holiday initiated by by Anita Stewart. This year it will be celebrated on Saturday, July 31. 

Food Day challenges Canadians to barbeque/cook using local/regional ingredients and share their menus on a dedicated website. Visit the Food Day website for more information.

July 23: CME Faculty Member Anne Wilcock Making an Impact on Quality

Professor Anne Wilcock is a member of the organizing committee for the 2nd Annual Canadian Quality Congress that will be held at the University of Toronto, August 23-25, 2010. The Conference is the premier Canadian event on quality management and business excellence, with the goal of discussing total quality management research, practices, and applications in a variety of industries. 

July 22: CME Graduate Named New Justice Studies Head at Guelph- Humber

Charles Lawrence has been named as the Program Head for the Justice Studies BASc and BAA programs at the University of Guelph-Humber, effective August 9, 2010. Professor Lawrence was the Manager of Training and Development for the Training and Education Unit of the Toronto Police Service for the past 12 years.  He has also held a variety of positions within the Ontario Police College and has taught a number of courses at both Humber and University of Guelph-Humber.  He completed a M.A.
