Students interested in pursuing equine studies now have an Associate Diploma in Equine Care and Management to consider at the University of Guelph's Ridgetown Campus.
The Department of Food Science is pleased to welcome Dr. Paul Spagnuolo as an associate professor in food chemistry. Paul joined the department on August 15, 2016.
In this position, Spagnuolo will continue developing his internationally recognized research program in the application of nutraceuticals as therapeutics, teach graduate and undergraduate courses in food chemistry, and support the needs of the Ontario food industry.
The School of Environmental Design and Rural Development (SEDRD) is pleased to welcome Dr. Sheri Longboat as an assistant professor in rural planning and development. Longboat joined the school on July 1, 2016.
Longboat’s research focuses on water security and governance. Much of her work connects with First Nations and looks to traditional customs and knowledge to redefine our relationship with water.
The Department of Food Science is pleased to welcome Dr. Iris Joye as an assistant professor in cereal science and technology. Joye joined the department on August 2, 2016.
The Department of Animal Biosciences is pleased to welcome Dr. Wendy Pearson as an assistant professor in equine physiology. Pearson joined the department on July 11, 2016.

Prof. Rene Van Acker has been appointed dean of the Ontario Agricultural College (OAC) for a five-year term effective Sept. 1. The announcement was made today by Charlotte Yates, provost and vice-president (academic). Van Acker is currently OAC’s associate dean (external relations) and a professor in the Department of Plant Agriculture.
The Department of Animal Biosciences is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Abigail Carpenter, Assistant Professor in applied dairy nutrition management. Dr. Carpenter starts on August 2, 2016 and will be located at the Ridgetown Campus.
The Department of Plant Agriculture is pleased to announce two new appointments serving turfgrass education, research and outreach effective June 27th, 2016.
Stephen Fleischauer will assume the role of the Associate Diploma in Turfgrass (ADTM) Program Director, and Prof. Eric Lyons will assume the role of Director for the Guelph Turfgrass Institute (GTI) as part of his faculty duties.

A third year Bachelor of Landscape Architecture student, Jenny Trinh always knew the University of Guelph was her top choice. When not acting as co-president of the Landscape Architecture Student Society (LASS), Jenny spends her free time enjoying the green space on campus, talking walks and photographing the beauty of the Arboretum.
