U of G Students Lead in Canada at North American “Turf Bowl”

U of G’s turfgrass management team secured top honors in Canada and an impressive eighth place finish in North America at the recent 2025 Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) Collegiate Turf Bowl. The competition, held in San Diego, brought together 78 teams from universities across the continent.
This achievement marks the third time the University of Guelph has secured a top-ten position in the competition, having previously ranked 10th in 2019 and 6th in 2017 since the inception of the event in 1999.
The Collegiate Turf Bowl serves as a platform for aspiring golf course superintendents to refine and test their knowledge essential to the profession. Participation in the Turf Bowl equips students with practical skills vital for the challenges they will encounter in their careers.
Teams, comprising up to four eligible students, navigate a series of rigorous testing formats, including essays, multiple-choice questions, plant identification, short-answer responses, and fill-in-the-blank exercises. Each format tests the team's depth of understanding across various aspects of turfgrass management.
