Equine industry symposium set to spark change

On November 17, the 4th annual Equine Industry Symposium will be hosted by the University of Guelph.

Join attendees from different areas of the horse industry to discuss the theme of "change" and what the word means for the equine community.

“With a consistently growing industry, keeping pace with change is crucial for everyone,” says Katrina Merkies, event organizer. “As part of an inclusive community we can all work toward improving the welfare of the horse.”

Assistant Dean Academic Appointed

The OAC Dean’s Office is pleased to announce the appointment of Prof. Renée Bergeron in the position of Assistant Dean – Academic.

In this eight-month role, Bergeron will support the portfolio of the Associate Dean – Academic. This portfolio includes program curriculum, online program development, student academic counselling, and support of instructors on academic issues, as well as representing OAC on various academic committees.

Johnston Hall Student Space Renovations Delayed, Scheduled to Open Late-September

Strong progress has been made to the new and improved student space in the basement of Johnston this summer. Although the renovation project is close to the end of construction, there have been some delays on furnishings. Furniture is expected to arrive mid-September. 

The new space is anticipated to be ready for student use the week of Sept 23rd, 2019.

Meet Gloria, CHATS student

Gloria’s passion for agriculture and farming play a significant role in her life. Because of this she chose to study crop, horticulture, and turfgrass science at the University of Guelph (U of G). Gloria hopes to take advantage of her newly developed knowledge to become a certified crop advisor and stay involved with her family farm.

Shelby is a third-year student in the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture program. Her love of being on the water and the beautiful landscapes of British Colombia is keeping her occupied this summer, but she’s looking forward to returning to campus (and Ontario) in the fall!

Meet Amber, Animal Biology Student

Fourth-year animal biology student Amber Zupan has a passion for working with livestock. She’s an animal enthusiast that can be seen around campus participating in many of the great activities that the University of Guelph (U of G) has to offer. Amber’s goals have changed since discovering that livestock animals are just as interesting as cats and dogs, if not more!
