Outstanding Staff under 10 Years of Service to OAC
Ian Turner, Administrative Officer, School of Environmental Sciences - Ian Turner, known for his financial acumen and problem-solving prowess, has been a cornerstone of support within the School of Environmental Sciences. His proactive initiatives and dedication to cultivating a positive workplace culture have been instrumental in SES's success.
Karina McKenzie, Undergraduate Program Assistant, Department of Animal Biosciences - Karina McKenzie's tenure since 2017 has been marked by her outstanding work ethic and unwavering dedication as the Undergraduate Program Assistant in the Department of Animal Biosciences. Her leadership in streamlining processes and her genuine care for students, faculty, and staff have significantly enhanced departmental cohesion and efficiency.

Julia (Cuilan) Zhu, Technician, Department of Animal Biosciences - Julia Zhu, a valued member of the community for over two decades, continues to embody excellence in her role as a technician. Her technical expertise and warm demeanor have greatly benefited countless graduate students and colleagues. Julia's proactive involvement in departmental activities underscores her commitment to fostering a supportive and collaborative environment.
Izabella Onik, Purchasing Clerk, School of Environmental Sciences - Izabella Onik's daily impact highlights her unwavering dedication and professionalism. Her recent success securing a Wellness at Work Grant further illustrates her commitment to enhancing community well-being. Izabella's positive attitude and supportive nature make her a role model deserving of the OAC Outstanding Staff Recognition Award.
Outstanding Student Award
Wastewater Surveillance Team, School of Environmental Sciences - Comprising Courtney McKellar, Kate MacPherson, Hanlan McDougall, Charlie Chettleburgh, Sarah Kingsley, Effie Honeywell, and Beth Cohen, this student team has been pivotal in the provincial wastewater surveillance initiative. Their timely data analysis during the pandemic, including the Omicron wave, underscored their critical role in supporting public health efforts.

OAC Alumni Distinguished Researcher Award: Laura Van Eerd, School of Environmental Sciences and Ridgetown Campus
Dr. Laura Van Eerd's groundbreaking research in soil health and productivity has not only shaped agricultural policy in Canada but also garnered international acclaim. She has received numerous awards, including being named a Fellow of the Canadian Society of Agronomy and one of the Influential Women in Canadian Agriculture.
