As a professor and the department head for the Landscape Architecture and Planning programs at Texas A & M University, Forster has been able to become a noted author on the subject of landscape architecture, especially in his fields of interest: ecological, community and interdisciplinary design. He is a fellow of the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture (CELA) and graduated the MLA program in 1982.
