What is OUTline

OUTline is the University of Guelph's resource and support service specializing in questions and information relating to sexual orientation and gender identity.

The OUTline Online Chat is the place to connect with trained volunteers in a discreet, confidential and private online environment. We’re happy to chat with you about things like…

  • Coming out
  • Exploring labels that resonate with you
  • Finding resources specific to LGBTQ2IA+ communities
  • Anything else that’s on your mind!

Out and About

Out and About

Out and About is a social discussion space for students to connect with each other about experiences related to coming out in connection to sexual orientation and gender identity. The program recognizes that coming out is a process, and for many this can be a unique and life-changing experience. Out and About exists as an opportunity for students to discuss their experiences and challenges related to coming out, learn from others’ experiences, and to foster a space to build community.

This space was created with the intention of providing a space for students who identify as Neurodivergent and LGBTQ2IA+, however all students are welcome and do not have to self-identify as Neurodivergent or as LGBTQ2IA+ to enter.

Minecraft

QTND Minecraft Meet

Join OUTline as we build, mine, and explore our very own Minecraft server! Students who attend this event are interested in connecting with other LGBTQ2IA+ students, sharing ideas and perspectives, and fostering connections based on similar lived experiences. Anyone is welcome to attend and is not required to self-identify in any way. For this particular social, the needs of neurodivergent LGBTQ2IA+ students are prioritized. In addition, folks are encouraged to participate to their own comfort level.

Book club

LGBTQ2IA+ Book Club

Join OUTline for a bi-weekly Book Club where we’ll discuss Queer and Trans representation and intersectional identities over a book while enjoying tea, hot chocolate, and pastries.

About OUTline Volunteers

Our Volunteer Team is trained in all of OUTline’s core values: sex positivity, harm reduction, anti-oppression, humanism, confidentiality, and peer-based support. You will not be required to give any identifying information as part of your chat, and we recommend using this chat somewhere that others cannot see your screen. Please check out our Terms of Service before beginning a chat.

Because the OUTline Online Chat is staffed entirely by student volunteers, our services do not operate during Reading Breaks, final exam periods, or during the Summer semester. Don’t worry; should you need support during those periods we encourage you to connect with the Sexual and Gender Diversity Advisor. If you are looking for anonymous support, you can connect with the LGBT YouthLine at 1-800-268-9688 or Good2Talk at 1-866-925-5454.

Unexpectedly disconnected from our live chat support? Simply rejoin and start a new chat to resume getting the support you need. Please be patient as we troubleshoot our connectivity issues. Just let the volunteer know when you last chatted, and they will be able to pick up where you left off.
