The Nanostring nCounter is capable of reporting gene expression in a sample without reverse transcriptase, PCR, or technical replicates. It functions by hybridizing a fluorescent probe to RNA/DNA/Protein and directly counting fluorescent signals. It is capable of multiplexing up to 800 targets and detecting as low as 1.5-fold change in expression.

Supported Samples:
- Total RNA (as low as 1 ng)
- cell lysates in GITC (minimum 100 cells)
- FFPE-derived total RNA
- PAXgene-lysed whole blood
