Frequently Asked Questions

If you applied through the OUAC.ca and are an Ontario high school student, you will not receive any login information after applying.

If you applied from outside of Ontario, or if you have attended another post-secondary institution prior to applying to the U of G, you will receive login information so that you are able to submit supplementary documents.

Specific programs require supplemental documentation to be submitted after you apply.

We also encourage all students to fill out the Student Profile Form (SPF). The SPF is your opportunity to tell the Admission Committee about activities that you have been involved in that have helped your develop leadership qualities, and those factors beyond your control that may have negatively affected your academic performance, such as illness or personal problems. Please submit the SPF by March 1, 2025.

Students will be considered for all programs to which they've applied at the University of Guelph. Should a student be admissible to multiple programs they have applied to, they may receive more than one offer of admission.

Regardless of when you receive an offer of admission, you must fulfill the following conditions:

  • Complete your secondary school diploma, including required courses for the program to which you are admitted at Guelph (for Ontario students this is the OSSD, with six 4U/M courses)
  • Achieve a minimum final average as outlined in your offer letter including required courses for the program to which you have applied at Guelph.

Should you not meet the above conditions, we may revoke the offer of admission.

For the current admission cycle, Guelph will use the highest grade reported for any repeated courses. On the Student Profile Form (SPF), you will have the opportunity to indicate any courses that you may have repeated and the reasons for the repeat.

Interim/final grades must be sent by your school to Admission Services as soon as they are available. Your grades in these courses will be treated the same as day courses.

There are a few programs where we will consider you automatically for an alternate program.

  1. Not admitted to a co-op program? You'll be automatically considered for admission to the regular program.
  2. If you don't possess the admission average for BA, Criminal Justice and Public Policy, we'll automatically consider you for BA, Justice and Legal Studies.
  3. If you don't possess the admission average for BA, Honours Psychology, we'll automatically consider you for BA, Honours Sociology.
  4. If you don't possess the admission average for B.Sc., Animal Biology or Bio-Medical Science, we'll automatically consider you for B.Sc., Biological Science.

If you are applying from outside of Ontario, you must satisfy the specific subject requirements of the program(s) to which you apply. If you are an applicant from other Canadian provinces and territories, please see our Out of Province admisson requirements. Applicants from the United States and other countries should visit our International admission requirements pages.

Applicants for admission will be required to present evidence of English Proficiency if their primary or first language (the language first learned as a child) is not English AND they have completed less than four years of full-time secondary study in an English-language school system.

No, the order of choice on the university application form does not affect admission, residence or scholarships at the University of Guelph.
