Admission Information for Home Schooled Students

General Admission Requirements

Applications from home-schooled applicants are considered on an individual basis. In addition to your home schooling experience, you must provide individual assessments in the six required subjects for your program(s) of interest.  

The University of Guelph does not require completion of the high school diploma for home schooled applicants.

Required Documents

Home schooled applicants must present a combination of the following:

  • Grade 12 4U/M courses (accredited by the Ontario Ministry of Education), or equivalent. Courses may be completed in any combination of correspondence, on-line learning, night school, or day school;
  • Official transcripts from an accredited post-secondary institution;
  • Advanced Placement (AP) examinations;
  • ACT;
  • SAT

In addition to the above assessments, you must submit a personal statement outlining your home schooling experience  and why you are interested in attending the University of Guelph. The statement should include:

  • Summary of home-school experience (e.g. curriculum)
  • Length of homeschool study
  • Future goals and career aspirations
