0.5 mL serum per timed sampling. Collect samples at 0 and 20 h.

Ship in insulated container with freezer packs.

Collection Protocol

Collect blood into a red-top vacutainer (do not use SST blood collection tubes); avoid hemolysis. Allow the sample to clot. Centrifuge the sample; separate the serum from the cells and transfer to a leakproof, labelled tube. Ensure that each serum sample is individually labelled with time of collection. Refrigerate or freeze and ship with freezer packs. Plasma is not suitable.

In the User's Guide - See Clinical Pathology section - Hyperadrenocorticism.* Typically 2 are submitted. Order (cortde) for each timed pre and post serum sample (0 and 20 hr).
