The Hotel in Wartime: A lecture by Dr. Bob A. Davidson, University of Toronto
Dr Bob Davidson is a renowned scholar of hotel history and the Director of the Northrop Frye Centre, as well as Associate Professor of Spanish & Catalan in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese at the University of Toronto. He is Co-Editor, Toronto Iberic Series, University of Toronto Press. Dr Davidson completed his BA in the College of Arts at Guelph. His latest book, The Hotel: Occupied Space (University of Toronto Press), is forthcoming in 2018.
SOLAL presents Jessica Adach: Speaking about working in the non-profit sector
Jessica Adach is a graduate of SOLAL's Masters program in European Studies. She went on to
get a second Masters in Human Rights and Genocide Studies through Kingston University in
the UK. Throughout her academic career Jessica focused on women's and girls' experiences in
conflict. Since then, she has worked both at home and abroad in various non‐profit organizations
that prioritize human rights and gender equality. Currently Jessica works at UNICEF Canada
as the Senior International Programs Coordinator.

SOLAL presents guest lecturer Dr. Elena Benelli
Elena Benelli is Senior Lecturer and Honours Advisor in Italian at Concordia University in Montreal,
where she teaches courses on contemporary Italian cinema, contemporary Italian literature, feminism,
and migrant writers. She has edited, in collaboration with Professor Grace Russo-Bullaro, the volume
Shifting and Shaping a National Identity: Transnational Writers and Pluriculturalism in Italy Today. She
has published several book chapters and articles on migrant writers and contemporary Italian fiction
