College of Arts Prof. and FIELD+ Team Project Aimed at Reconceptualizing Natural Abundance Shortlisted for Architectural Accolade
Congratulations to Art Gallery of Guelph Director Dr. Shauna McCabe and the FIELD+ team who have been shortlisted for the 2025 Venice Biennale of Architecture, announced in March by the Canada Council for the Arts. According to their website, "The Canada Council is the Commissioner for Canada’s official representation at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia – which seeks to support proposals with bold ideas that inspire, challenge and respond to current realities through the lens of contemporary Canadian architecture.”
FIELD+ is a collective comprised of architects Andrew King of AKA/FLDWRK and Matthew Hickey of Two Row and researchers nationally whose work spans visual culture, infrastructure, environmental design, and landscape. Reflecting on the process, McCabe notes, “It has been a great pleasure collaborating with this team – the thoroughly transdisciplinary conversation has enabled us to explore truly innovative possibilities to extend architecture in a contemporary context.”
As well as Director of the Art Gallery of Guelph, McCabe has served as adjunct professor for both the College of Arts and Landscape Architecture at the University of Guelph.
