Guelph Places Third in National Music Poll

The University of Guelph has placed third for musical culture on Canadian campuses, according to results of a CBC poll announced today.

The nationwide, online poll asked alumni and students to vote for the school with the best campus music culture. Wilfrid Laurier University won the top spot, with the University of King’s College second. Guelph came third, ahead of Brandon University and Mount Allison University.

Philosophy Field Course inaugurated

In late August 2012, the new Philosophy Field Course undertook its inaugural expedition to Tofino, B.C. under the guidance of Professor Stefan Linquist. The mixed group of philosophy and biology students met with representatives from environmental groups, fishing and logging industries and First Nations. They inquired into these stakeholders' views on sustainability, conservation and economic development.

Students have started an undergraduate philosophy journal, Agora. Congratulations, and thanks, to all who write for it and help to produce it.

We would also like to draw your attention to a philosophy blog, the Hemlock Journal , put together by our undergraduate students and devoted to "alternative and creative means of doing philosophy".

History: Elizabeth Ewan

Elizabeth Ewan recently completed editorial work to bring to publication a book by Audrey-Beth Fitch of the California University of Pennsylvania. At the time of her passing in 2005, Dr.
