Alan Gordon Scholarship in Canadian and Public History
The History Department is honoured to announce a new endowed scholarship, the Alan Gordon Scholarship in Canadian and Public History, created in memory of our friend, History professor, Alan Gordon, on behalf of his partner, Adrienne Warren. Profound thanks to Ms. Warren and to History Chair Matthew Hayday for their work to honour our colleague's memory, as well as to our Alumni Affairs and Development friend, Amy Atkinson.
Dr. Karen Racine elected Fellow of Royal Historical Society
We celebrate with our friend and colleague in History, Professor Karen Racine, who was just elected to the United Kingdom's Royal Historical Society, a signal honour and one so well deserved.
Choice Book Award for Dr. Renée Worringer's 'Short History of the Ottoman Empire'
Dr. Renée Worringer's recent book, A Short History of the Ottoman Empire, has been noted as a Choice Outstanding Academic Title for 2022. The book is a richly illustrated synthesis of Ottoman History that "provides a clear and comprehensive account of the longevity, pragmatism, and flexibility of the Ottoman Empire in governing over vast territories and diverse peoples."
