COA bids farewell to Dr. Sofie Lachapelle
The College of Arts bids farewell to Dr. Sophie Lachapelle, our colleague and friend, as she moves on to become Dean of Arts at Wilfrid Laurier University this fall.
Sophie has been a tremendous voice on behalf of the College in all her various capacities. She joined us in 2005 as a faculty member in History and taught as well in the Bachelor of Arts & Science program. Sophie has served as Associate Dean, Academic, as Acting Associate Vice President, Academic, and as Acting Dean. She leaves us after serving as Chair of History, where she has been a vocal advocate for faculty and students within and beyond her department and a visionary instructor, collaborating with colleagues across the university to create the wildly popular online Pandemics course. In her time at Guelph, Sophie has had a distinguished and innovative career; she now has an exciting one ahead of her. We offer our very best wishes to her in this new endeavour.
