Unveiling "Future Food Visions": Guelph's Culinary Tale as Crafted by Theatre Students & Faculty
Led by Kimberley McLeod, associate professor in the School of English and Theatre Studies, the University of Guelph presents an intriguing collaboration with Guelph-Wellington’s Our Food Future initiative. Students from the College of Arts Theatre program have skillfully crafted a series of captivating audio experiences for Guelph visitors and residents known as "Future Food Visions."
Scheduled for release on Saturday, August 12, these nine immersive audio encounters can be easily downloaded or streamed through Driftscape or www.reimaginefood.ca/visions. These narratives illuminate Guelph’s rich food history and address issues of food insecurity within the Guelph-Wellington community. These recordings, along with accompanying transcripts and resources, are best enjoyed in key Guelph locales such as Downtown Guelph and the University of Guelph. These audio experiences are easily accessible, thanks to QR codes at identified locations (found on their website).
The official launch takes place on August 12 at the Guelph Farmers’ Market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., offering a one-day exclusive audio experience. As a gesture of appreciation, the first 100 listeners will receive a special food item.
Join us in celebrating the culmination of creative exploration and community connection. Experience "Future Food Visions," an innovative endeavor that’s supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Discover the stories that shape our local food narrative and gain a fresh appreciation for the vibrant Guelph food scene.
