This is a time of dramatic transitions for SURG. After years of outstanding work and great commitment Jack McCart had to step down as editorial leader of the journal since he began a full-time job on campus. We thank Jack for his years of service and wish him every success in his new endeavors.

We have finally recruited a replacement for Jack. As of January 2019 the Managing Editor is Stephanie Settle. Welcome, Stephanie! We apologize for the inordinate delay with publication over the last year but, with Stephanie's help, we'll strive to catch up on the backlog and maintain a more regular publication schedule going forward.

The other big news is that we are moving from a publication strategy based on discreet issues and will instead publish constantly as articles move through the editorial workflows. This will mean less delay as authors await publication and a more dynamic web site as new content will appear throughout the year.
