Funny Boy Headed To CBC, Netflix, and the Oscars

Shyam Selvadurai's novel, Funny Boy is being released as a feature film on CBC TV and Netflix. Adapted by Deep Mehta, the film is scheduled to premiere in Canada on CBC on December 4th and will have a wider, international release on Netflix on December 10th. The film has also been selected to be Canada's Oscar submission for Best International Film.

2020 Eden Mills Writers' Festival

The 2020 Eden Mills Writers' Festival is in full swing! 

Throughout the upcoming weeks, there will be live virtual discussions and readings from a diverse group of contemporary authors and writers, including Emma Donoghue (The Pull of the Stars), Leanne Betasamosake Simpson (Noopiming: The Cure for White Ladies), Catherine Bush (Blaze Island), and Emily Urquhart (The Age of Creativity: Art, Memory, My Father, and Me).

IF 2020 is a 24-hour online improvisation festival presented by IICSI in partnership with other music and community-based organizations from around the world.

IF will be free to stream online starting on August 8th at midnight, GMT (8pm EST on August 7 / 1 am GMT+1 on August 8th). 

"Do You Hear Me Now?" An Anthology of Mental Health Journeys

"Do You Hear Me Now" An Anthology of Mental Health Journeys is an ebook that includes a "collection of poetry, long-form writing, and artwork by individuals of diverse ages, genders, races and sexual orientations." Those included in the anthology were inspired by Ajay Heble's Literature and Social Change course during the Winter 2020 semester and decided to use the medium of storytelling to reduce social stigma surrounding mental health and empower people to feel safe when speaking or writing about their mental health journeys.
