Scholarships and Funding
The School of Theatre, English, and Creative Writing guarantees funding to all entering students in its MA programs. Funding guarantees are made on the basis of the School’s financial resources and the applicant’s academic merit, but typically, funding would comprise of teaching assistantships (two [Fall, Winter] for Major Reseach Stream students and three [Fall, Winter, Summer] for Thesis stream students). In addition, the School has a limited number of scholarships which are awarded on a competitive basis to students who qualify.
We encourage applicants to apply for external scholarships before entering one of our programs. Information on Scholarships and Awards should be researched by the applicant. Most applicants wishing to enter the MA program should verify eligibility, and apply to either the Ontario Graduate Scholarship or SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarships-Master's (CGS M) Program.

International Financial Support
While our graduate program does provide financial support through a combination of scholarships and graduate teaching opportunities, this funding will not cover the full amount of tuition for international students. We strongly encourage international students to secure additional funding in their home countries before applying to our program.
Please review the Graduate Studies Viewbook, as it contains general information about the University of Guelph, all our graduate programs and research areas, our admissions process and information for international students.
Prospective international graduate students should review the entrance requirements and other important factors carefully before choosing to submit an application. The responsibility for conducting thorough institutional and program research and due diligence concerning financing and international travel/immigration arrangements is solely that of the applicant before and during the selection and admission processes. The School of Theatre, English, and Creative Writing at the University of Guelph is unable and unqualified to discuss or make referrals on such matters until or after such time as formal offers of admission are issued.
