Dr. David Wood, OJS Provincial Director, will speak about the OJS short-term summer programs.

The OJS Program offers the following summer programs.  Selected participants for any of these programs will receive an automatic scholarship of $2000 from the Province of Ontario to help offset the costs of the program (must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident to get the scholarship).  Students can arrange with their Program Counsellor to get UofG credit for these programs.

Summer Language, History and Culture Program (June 6 - July 3, 2016)

Held at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, participants take a introductory course in the Mandarin language and about the history and culture of China, while also participating in organized visits to places of historical and cultural importance in Jiangsu province.

Summer Language and Food Culture Program (3 weeks from May - June)

Held at Jiangnan University, students will learn about the food industry and food culture in China through lectures and field trips to places of interest.  Students will visit a variety of locations such as a traditional teahouse and a culinary school, and will learn about such topics as Chinese staple foods and their sources, common herbs and spices, wine and cooking.  While students from any program are welcome to participate, this program is particularly relevant to students in Food Science and Hospitality and Tourism.

China Studies Program (July 1 - 30, 2016)

Held at Jiaotong-Liverpool University, students will take two courses - The Social and Economic Development of China, and Sites of Chinese History.  The program includes field trips to places associated with the study program.
